Stay the Course

Life is a journey and along the way there will be many distractions. Some distractions come in the form of disappointments. These particular distractions can be extremely painful, especially if it comes from an unexpected source; your inner-circle
Don’t let it come as a surprise to you that there are people in your inner-circle, people you call your friends, your partners and so called supporters that will swear up and down to you that they will be with you in your journey until the end but you will not see them all at the finish line. As you advance in life you will come to realize that not everyone will applaud your successes but rather some will magnify your failures and even disappear in your time of need. This can be the result of their own bitterness, anger, insecurities, fears or even jealousy.
There are many people that will go into battle with you but there are few that will stay and fight with you.
In the book of 1 Samuel 30:1-8, David was led into battle by God against the Amalekites. With him were his loyal soldiers. Or were they? I’m sure they made an oath to serve and protect him but along their journey, things got tough. During the battle the Amalekites had raided their villages, burning theirs homes and killing many of their wives and children, including David’s. Now afterwards those that went into battle with David, in their bitterness and pain, talked of stoning and killing David- their own leader. I’m sure this came as a surprise to David, as he was not the direct cause of their grief and wait a minute…after all, weren’t they supposed to be on the same team?
When you come to face your own battles in your life, some may leave, some may hurt you and some may even rise up against you. Know that all of these things are out of your control. Disappointments in life are inevitable but your reaction to them is rather pivotal in how your journey will move forward or stand still.
Encourage yourself-Encourage yourself in the Lord as David did…God can comfort you in your pain like nothing else can. Remember His promises, remember past victories, meditate on His goodness. Psalm 138:3
Forgive-holding on to pain and disappointment is only a hindrance of progress in your life. Not theirs…
Now move on… God has promised you that where you are going is far better than where you are. Yes, disappointment can be a painful distraction but God will not give you more than you bear. Stand firm on His promises in full assurance of faith. Stay the Course! You are on a journey so you must move. Your surroundings may look desolate now as you are looking around for helpers… Remember, God still stands when everything else has fallen. Cling to Him, He is your pillar.
With Love,
