You Carry Greatness

Has anyone ever told you that you carry Greatness? The way you perceive yourself matters and actually makes a difference.
Well known philosopher Ayn Rand once said, “The man who does not value oneself cannot value anything or anyone.” There is truth in this quote in that placing a low value on oneself or having low self-esteem paralyzes us as individuals from achieving our full potential in society. It does this by disallowing us from choosing the life we want because don’t have the confidence to do so. Self-esteem can be described as an internal picture of how you feel and view yourself in relation with your peers and to society as well as whether you approve and accept yourself. Self-esteem is an important determinant of the overall quality of life that we experience. It not only affects our mental and physical health as individuals but affects our self-imposed roles in society.
There are many reasons why women and men alike suffer from self-esteem issues. Most of them arise from striving for unrealistic ideals imposed on us by a highly materialistic driven society. From a young age children have been indoctrinated with false and misleading images through media outlets such as magazines, movies, music, and the fashion industry. I must point out however that not all content in media outlets are “bad” or misleading, but the challenge however is to distinguish what is true and what is not.
Despite the source of your feelings of inadequacy, one thing remains true. Every detail of you is wonderfully made by God!
“For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139:13-14
The creator of the universe has crafted you with beauty and purpose yet you want to let humanity define you? Your creator defines who you are because he is the one that took his time to craft you. Every part of you.
Society places value on your outer appearance, your materials and your tangible accomplishments; quite shallow isn’t it? but you are SO much more than that. God is a God of depth. He is not shallow by any means. You carry purposeful greatness inside of you placed by God and your impact in this world matters-even if you touch just one person. Your impact in this world is much greater than what you have or how you look. Those things pass away and change…but the mark you leave on this world lasts forever.
It’s time to free yourself from any mental hindrance so you can accomplish great things using your God-given gifts and talents…you are full of value and worth but YOU must believe so. It’s not easy to break free from old habits. Spend time in prayer and ask God to renew your mind and change your outlook on your situation. In His, faithfulness God will answer you!
The battlefield lies in your mind and this is one battle you can’t afford to lose.
